The terms that govern your account, your bookings, and your use of this site.
Gyankosh Academy delivers in-person generative AI and machine learning training in the Toronto area, along with one-to-one expert consultations and business services. These terms are the agreement between you and us. They apply when you create an account, book anything, or simply use this website.
Two other documents form part of this agreement and should be read alongside it: our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which governs money and deadlines, and our Privacy Policy, which governs your information. Where the Cancellation & Refund Policy is more specific than this page about a refund, a credit or a deadline, that page is the one that applies.
If you do not accept these terms, please do not create an account or make a booking.
You need an account to register for a course, book a consultation, or reach course materials. You must be 18 or older to hold one. If you are booking on behalf of someone else (an employee, a colleague, a family member) you are responsible for what is booked and for paying for it.
An account belongs to one person. Give us a real name and an email address you actually read: your confirmations, reminders, joining links and course materials all go there, and a seat we cannot contact you about is a seat we cannot hold. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account.
You can delete your account at any time. What that does to information we are obliged to keep is described in the Privacy Policy.
Courses. Courses run as batches: a fixed group, a fixed set of sessions, on published dates at a published venue. Registering buys you one seat on one batch, along with the course materials for the edition you are taught.
Consultations. A private expert consultation is a one-to-one session of the published length, at the time you book, delivered online or in person as stated at checkout.
Business services. Training or AI automation arranged through the enquiry form is agreed separately in writing. Where that written agreement differs from this page, it is the one that applies.
What we do not promise. We teach the published curriculum to the best of our ability. We do not promise any particular outcome from it: a job, a certification, a result at work, or any specific level of skill. Nothing we teach is legal or financial advice, and what you build with it afterwards is yours to stand behind.
We sometimes have to move things. A batch may be rescheduled, a venue may change to another in the same area, a session may move online, or a different qualified instructor may teach it. Where a change is material we will email you before it takes effect.
A batch runs only if enough people register. If we cancel or reschedule a batch or a consultation, you may take a full refund or a place on the next equivalent one, whichever you prefer. That holds whatever the notice period, and whatever stage of the cancellation ladder you are on.
Our responsibility in that situation is to give your money back or give you the place. We are not responsible for travel, accommodation or time you had booked around the original date, so please book those with that in mind.
Prices are in Canadian dollars. The amount shown at checkout, after any discount, is the amount payable, and we do not add anything to it afterwards. Your bank may add its own foreign transaction or conversion fee, which is between you and them.
Card details never reach us. Payments are processed by Stripe, and using this site to pay means accepting that your card details are handled under Stripe's terms.
When you are charged is deliberately not “now”. When you register for a course we save your card and charge nothing; the payment runs 14 days before the batch starts, the moment free cancellation closes. A consultation works the same way, 7 days before the session. Booking inside either window means paying immediately, and checkout says so before you commit. By booking, you authorise us to take that payment at that point without asking again.
If the payment fails we will tell you, try again, and give you a way to fix it. A seat that is still unpaid when the deadlines in the Cancellation & Refund Policy run out is released to someone on the reservation, and you will not have been charged for it. Unpaid seats do not entitle you to attend.
A price listed by obvious mistake, such as a decimal point in the wrong place, is not an offer we are bound by. We will contact you and either honour the correct price or cancel the booking at no cost to you.
The full rules live on the Cancellation & Refund Policy page, which forms part of these terms. In short, for courses: cancel 14 days or more before the start and nothing is charged; cancel between 7 and 14 days and you keep the full value as credit toward a future batch; cancel inside 7 days and nothing comes back. At any point up to 2 hours before the start you may send someone else in your place instead, free of charge.
Consultations follow the same ladder on their own clock: free up to 7 days before the session, the full value as credit until 48 hours before, nothing inside that. A booking can be moved to another time once, up to the same 48 hours before.
Credit is held against your account as a single balance whichever cancellation created it, spends on either a course batch or a consultation, expires on the date shown on your dashboard, cannot be exchanged for cash, and is not transferable to another person. Not turning up is treated as a cancellation with no notice.
Everything we teach with (slides, workbooks, notebooks, exercises, recordings and code) belongs to us or to whoever licensed it to us. Paying for a course does not transfer any of that to you.
What you get is a personal, non-transferable licence: keep your copy, read it, annotate it, and use what you learned in your own work, including at your job. Course code samples may be used in your own projects.
What you may not do is share the materials themselves. No uploading them, posting them, passing them to colleagues who did not attend, feeding them to a model as training data, or teaching from them.
A course’s setup guide is on your dashboard from the moment you register. The rest of the materials are released there 3 days before your batch starts, to registered students whose payment is in good standing, and stay there. Presenter notes are never released to students. Each download is stamped with the name and email of the account that took it. That stamp is how a copy that turns up somewhere it should not be is traced back. Sharing material is grounds for closing your account, and we reserve our legal remedies for serious cases.
Anything you write during a course, your own notes and your own code, is yours.
Our sessions are small and in person, and they only work when everyone in them is treated with respect. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation or behaviour that stops other people learning will get you asked to leave a session, with no refund. Venue rules on accessibility, safety and closing times apply to you while you are there, as do any rules our host sets.
Please do not record sessions yourself. Audio, video and screen recording are not permitted without our written consent, out of respect for the other people in the room, who did not agree to be recorded.
We record and transcribe every online session, so that everyone on the batch can catch up afterwards; Microsoft Teams may also make AI notes of it. A recording shows what was shared on screen and the names, voices and video of the people in the session. It is shared only with the registered students of that batch, on their dashboard, for 12 months after the session; nobody else can open it. In-person sessions are not recorded.
Online consultations are recorded and transcribed too. The recording is kept in our Microsoft 365 OneDrive and is not shared with anyone else or through the website; if you would like it, ask us and we will send it to you. In-person consultations are not recorded.
On the website: use it for what it is for. Do not attempt to reach accounts, records or materials that are not yours, probe or interfere with the service, scrape it, or automate against it. If you find a security problem, we would genuinely rather hear about it. Write to academy@gyankosh.ca and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before telling anyone else.
We keep the site running and secure, but we do not promise it is available without interruption or free of faults. It may be down for maintenance, or because something we depend on is down. If a fault stops you completing a booking, tell us and we will sort the booking out. That is the remedy, rather than compensation for the outage itself.
We are responsible for delivering what you paid for, and for putting it right if we do not. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses: lost profit, lost business, lost opportunity, or the cost of travel and accommodation booked around a session.
Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, our total liability to you in connection with any booking is capped at the amount you actually paid us for that booking.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer under Ontario or Canadian law, which stand whatever this page says.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms: sharing course materials, behaviour that makes a session unsafe, chargebacks raised instead of a cancellation, or attempts to get at other people's records. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and explain why. Closing an account does not cancel a refund or a credit you were already entitled to. You can close yours at any time, for any reason, and the cancellation policy still governs anything you have already booked.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it stands.
We update this page when the product or the law changes, and the date at the top tells you when we last did. The terms that apply to a booking are the ones published on the day you made it, and a later change does not rewrite what you already agreed to. If a change is significant we will email you rather than rely on you noticing.
Questions about these terms, or about a booking, go to academy@gyankosh.ca. We would rather find a workable answer than hide behind a policy.
